Ok so I have to just admit it...say it out loud...the kids are driving me absolutely bonkers! I have a total of 7 including mine, here all day every day. I love them dearly, and find so much joy in each and every one of them but the last few days they are making me NUTS! The older school kids are finally comfortable enough with me to start pushing my limits. I started out as a bit of a hard ass, so I could quickly curb some of the discipline problems I knew I was facing. It worked great, and now we have tons of fun...but lately....hmmmmm. The dog days are hitting. They are hot! They are tired! There is nothing to do! They don't want to eat this or eat that! Blah blah blah blah ....and so the little ones quickly follow suit with the whines and the cries about how horrible things are...I always want to tell them if they think have no life now, wait until they have kids!
Today we were outside playing and the older kids are all whining that they want to go inside...it's HOTTTT!!! they complain. It's beautiful outside today!! It's the kind of day that makes you glad you are alive! The breeze is strong, the sun is shining and the temp is just right. Finally I called our local time and temp hotline just to prove to them it's not that hot! They were just sure it was 95 degrees outside and they were going to die of heat stroke if we didn't go in soon (we had been outside for 15 minutes!)
I called.....it's 83 degrees!! I made them stay out another 45 minutes. I am so mean.
Now it's nap time for the little ones and they are engrossed in a game of Monopoly, which I figure is better than being stuck in front of the boob tube...we'll see how long this last before someone is cheating, not playing fair, or looked at somebody funny!
I need a beer.

A lil bit of alcohol never hurt anyone! LOL! I don't know how you do it! I can barely maintain my 2 kids all day long, let alone other people's! I'm ok in bursts w others, but full days kill me! Whenever I was "bored" as a kid, my grandma (babysitter gave me things to do - you know like vacuum, sweep, change a baby's diaper! Just an idea?
